We also owe a big congrats to fellow group member, Andy Anderson, for scoring the cover this year with a beautiful shot from his book, SALT. And we can’t forget fellow shooters Richard Schultz, Hunter Freeman, and Leigh Beisch – so proud to be part of such a talent group with Heather Elder Represents.

We’ve blogged about it, we’ve shared previous features, and here we are again in 2014. Every two years, Luerzers Archive publishes a collection of the top advertising photographers in our industry. Handpicked from thousands of entries, this publication distills down to the best and brightest shooters in the world.

In 2012 we were extremely honored to be featured for the first time and now, in 2014 we are just as proud to say that we’ve been chosen again to be included in this great collection. What photos made the cut? Keep reading to find out…

PDN All-Star Assistant: David Ohl

We’re excited to announce that a member of the Crisman team was selected as a PDN All-Star Assistant. Yes, it’s true, one of our trusty assistants and photographers, David Ohl was honored as one of the top 20 assistants in the country. The only winner from Philadelphia, David is not only representing our team, but the great city of brotherly love.

A familiar face on the blog and in our weekly and monthly wrap-up posts, we started working with David back in early 2012 and ever since he’s been an invaluable assistant, digital tech, and all around awesome guy to have in the studio and on set.

All-Star assistant status aside, David is also an up-and-coming conceptual still life shooter. Chances are, if he’s not on set with Chris or any of the other great photographers he’s working for, he can be found in the studio taking everyday objects and working them into extraordinary images. Enough from me though, I’ll let David’s photos speak for themselves.

Graphis Photography Annual 2013

Graphis has recently announced the winners for their Photography Annual 2013 and we are very excited to share that Chris’s portrait of NFL quarterback Michael Vick was awarded the Graphis Platinum award – making the cut of top 10 out of the top 100 selected photos of the year. We are honored to be selected amongst the ranks of some of the best photographers in the business like Craig Cutler. I guess having the initials CC helps, but you’ll have to ask Craig to vouch for that.

You might remember back in 2011 we ran a series of blog posts about our experience shooting Michael Vick – from both Chris’s point of view, and the perspective of Jesse Southerland, a designer working for Philadelphia Magazine. If you haven’t read those accounts of our shoot, they’re worth it. We may have only had three minutes with the NFL superstar, but when you’re prepared it can be just enough time to make an award winning portrait.

New Conceptual Portrait – Flower Child

Here it is – our latest conceptual portrait. Following in the style of Paper Airplanes, Dock Jumper, and Butterfly Girl, we’re excited to release the latest and greatest in our series of personal work.

The landscape may look familiar from our trip to California earlier this year – the dramatic views of the west coast definitely served as inspiration for this picture. Make sure to head over to our website and see the image full size. Also, keep reading for behind the scenes photos & insight into how this newest image came together…
