As the year goes on, the pace just seems to keep picking up, moving faster and faster – whether we’re barreling down a desert highway in a truck headed to a remote region in southern Utah, or taking off into the clouds on a flight to our next shoot. All puns aside, October has certainly flown by, taking us from Philadelphia to Atlanta, California, NYC, Las Vegas, Arizona, Utah and many places in between. It’s only right that we recap the past 31 days and share some photos and stories from the adventures that have kept us busy the past month. Keep reading for more…
We had plenty of sunrises and sunsets in front of our lens this month – whether it was spent in airports, on the road, or shooting – we were making the most of the sparse daylight that Autumn has to offer.
We kicked off our run with a week down in Atlanta, shooting in the studio. Nothing quite like unrolling a fresh seamless on a Monday morning to start off the week.
As always, we made sure to travel light – packing only the essential 7 octabanks. Big Studio in ATL handled the rest, as well as providing a beautiful space to shoot in.
With a very quick pit-stop back home in Philadelphia, we hopped on a flight to San Fransisco for another week of shooting along the California coast. Don’t let the surf sunshine and surf fool you – it was quite the cold and windy day on set while we were working on these cliffs.
We also picked up a few new pieces of gear this month – including a well overdue update to our Pocketwizard lineup. Anyone in the market for some used PW Plus II’s? We have a few we’re looking to send to a good home.
New gear always comes with a learning curve, in this case yours truly playing the role of an audio-tech for a hybrid still & motion project we just wrapped at the end of October. Always fun to play with new gear.
Speaking of learning curves – we also took to the skies of the southwest for a round of Aerial photography. Despite the very serious windchill, this was absolutely one of the most inspiring experiences in making photos that we have had. It’ll be a while before we can share the photos but they’re worth the wait.
The end of October really took us to some beautiful and remote locations while shooting an editorial assignment. There was much off-roading and hiking involved, but the results and the nearly wrecked rental car was absolutely worth it.
We weren’t kidding when we said our shoots this month took us into the wild. Oregon trail jokes aside, we all made it safely through the shoots and back home to Philadelphia.
As far as what you may have missed this month on the internet:
Last but not least…
As always, we just keep on making magic…
