There are some truly creative people in this industry. Let’s face it, you’ve got to be constantly concepting, developing, and executing or you get left in the dust. I’m fortunate to work with some really dynamic and inspiring people, ranging from art directors, to producers, to creative directors, photo editors, art buyers, and print producers. Instead of questions about email blasts, printed promos, and portfolio reviews, I think that it’s time that I put some of them on the spot to show us their meaning of Life. “The meaning of Life†may be a little far flung to answer in only ten questions, but hopefully these interviews will serve to distill some of the inspired and intellectual energy of the creatives that we work with.
I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t know of Tim Tadder. This character makes some bad ass creations and his name just seems to pop up everywhere you look. I had the pleasure of spending a couple days with Tim this spring on a trip to San Francisco. We spent a long time talking about ourselves, and our work, and dreaming about pictures of the future. I am honored to have Tim share himself with us and all our readers. After reading about him here, please go spend some time with his work – you won’t be disappointed. Enough from me though, I’ll let Tim tell the rest…
1. Name one actor you’d like to portray you in a movie about your life?

4. Name your all time favorite band, singer, or album?
No Question, Ray Lamontange. He is a singer songwriter that I really enjoy the passion in he puts into his work. I connect with the lyrics in many ways. Although if he is reading this I am not sure I like the new direction the latest release is heading, – Ray, go back to sweet spot, where did the soul go?
5. Name one place in the world that you’ve been and can’t wait to return to and why?
Hmmm. Isle Au Haut Maine, a place I spent many summers as a child, I love it there.
6. What is favorite shoot of all time? Please elaborate
The one I am doing tomorrow. Really, I love every shoot in some way. There are some I would rather forget, but in reality I feel so blessed to do what I do that I get amped up for every shoot and try to find something I can hold on to from each one. That being said, maybe spending two weeks in Brazil shooting incredible models for a Bikini calendar for the World Cup gives me a smile when I drift back to it. Not much elaboration needed there…
7. What is your philosophy on creating and inspiring?
Listen to your inner voice and trust your instincts. The best ideas are the ones that come quickly, not the ones you over-think. Blessed are the ones that love what they create, and the converse applies so be careful. Let passion for creating unique images lead your path…
8. Describe a defining moment in your career that has led you to where you are today?
I was shooting the Eagles vs Patriots in the Superbowl, 2005 I think, and I looked around and saw a sea of photographers. At that moment I decided that I wanted to make images that were truly unique, that did not depend on a play happening cleanly in front of me or a moment that could be captured by many many talented photographers. I wanted to be unique, an inspiring image creator. I never shot another event like that, and turned my focus on creating illustrative and powerful images that were in my voice.
9. Name one person you wish you could have a drink with and why?
Jay-Z. Maybe he could bring Beyonce, that would be a bonus. He would be ballin’ - How interesting is his story!?
10. If the world is ending in 2014, how will you change your life plan?
I would hold my kids hands every second and wander around with them listening to how they see the world with fresh eyes and fresh perspective, that always make me smile and appreciate the goodness in life.
