Whenever we hear from the creatives at Washingtonian, we always know that we’ll be tasked to bring some wild idea to life and make beautiful photos in the process. As always, their latest cover shoot did not disappoint. Shoot some tubers in the middle of a river – sounds easy enough right? Little did we know what was in store for the Crisman team that day. Thankfully we didn’t lose any cameras or lights to the river, but there were plenty of close call – keep reading to find out the whole story…
What do you get when you book an amazing home location, over a dozen beautiful talent, a whole contingent of hair, makeup, and wardrobe stylists and a crew of awesome photo assistants? Sounds like a recipe for the perfect self-promotional lifestyle photo-shoot.
Although we shot this project back in 2013, the dog-days of summer are upon us again and served as a good reminder of the day we spent last July having a ton of fun making great photos.
Over the course of only 10 hours, we ran through a handful of fun lifestyle scenarios (want to know a secret? it wasn’t actually their graduation party that day…)
And of course in this fine day and age, what’s a lifestyle photoshoot without a little bit of ‘selfie’ action?
Trust me, it weren’t just our models who were excited for this shoot – Chris was pretty pumped to be spending the whole day shooting like crazy and making as many photos as we could.
Did you know that photographer/assistant/digi-tech Jared Castaldi also will work as a child wrangler? Is there anything this guy can’t do?
Despite all of the fun, we were shooting like crazy all day long, working inside and out of our suburban home location – maximizing both our talent and the location itself to create at least half a dozen totally unique scenarios.
Yours truly even stepped in to try and… make some cookies? What can I say – when it’s all hands on deck for a shoot, we do what we need to, even if it’s outside the normal wheelhouse of photo assisting.
As always though, we did what we do best and made a very full day’s worth of amazing images. We owe a big belated thank you to the whole crew that helped make this possible – thank you so much everyone!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone! The Crisman team is taking a well deserved day of rest and relaxation today, but we’ll be back later in the week. For now, we hope you sit back, crack open a cold beverage and enjoy the day.
We travel a lot. So much in fact that you could say we have it down to a science. Before we even arrive at the airport, Chris and our team know that everything is in order – when you’re on the road and up in the air as much as we are, you can’t leave anything to chance. How do we do it? Keep reading for an in-depth look at how we travel…
What’s better than a camping trip in the woods on a warm and sunny fall day? How about adding nine models, two photographers, a team of stylist, and a crew of assistants? Oh and let’s throw in a 6:00am call time before the sunrises to really make it fun. You might remember back to 2011 when we took off to Florida for our very first self produced, three day lifestyle photoshoot. It’s been almost two years since, and we made so many great photos down in the sunshine state that Chris had the idea to do it again, except out in the woods this time.
We showed a sneak-peek of some of the photos earlier this year, but here’s the real deal – keep reading for a ton more photos and behind the scenes from our Fall Lifestyle shoot…
It was about this time two years ago, back in 2011 when we were packing our bags and getting ready to head off to the Lone Star state to create an image library for a brand new resort property in the Texas hill country.
Our shoot for Travaasa Austin was the beginning of a project that also took us to their resort in Hawaii and could possibly lead us on new adventures in the future. For now though, keep reading for a look back and behind the scenes…
It’s January, it’s winter, it’s cold.
Chris and the rest of our crew certainly get around this country and beyond, but this week we’re back at home base in Philadelphia and it’s chilly. The weather put me in a mindset to remember what we were up to right around now in 2011, when we headed down to Florida for our first lifestyle portfolio shoot. We packed up our gear, as well as some sunglasses and took off to the sunshine state to make some beautiful photos. We couldn’t have asked for a better week, but the pictures speak for themselves.
