Weekly Wrap-up, September 3rd-7th

Even though we took a minute to relax and celebrate Labor day, we were back in full swing for the first week of September. We spent the last few days working hard to get ready for a week long advertising project just ahead on the horizon and shooting, as usual, making pictures like we always do.

Our shoots this week spanned a strange mix of subject matter, ranging from beautiful conceptual portraits to 200mph gas guzzling, exhaust spewing race-cars. Yes it’s never a dull moment, even on the weeks with holidays mixed in. We’ve got more photos and stories from the past few days… keep reading to get the full scoop.

We started out the week with a few days of rain and general nastiness – not good weather for outdoor end of summer photo shoots.

But that nasty weather didn’t stop us from shooting indoors. And no, Chris hasn’t taken a turn for still-life photography… these were just a prop for a brand new personal conceptual portrait (photo credit Cara Anderson)

We ventured out to the Poconos later in the week for a wild shoot with tons of torque, horsepower and American muscle… and maybe a few bears too.

You guessed it – we were shooting a racing project. We’ve already covered Formula One and Sebastian Vettel so it might as well be time to switch over to the American side of car racing

And any race-track photo shoot means not only ridiculous test shots of assistants, but ridiculous test shots from a cherry picker!

As far as what you may have missed this week on the internet:

 – We share our top twelve photo assistant tips

 – It was labor day so we celebrated with some photos

 – Heather Elder has a video link to friend and still-life shooter Kevin Twomey’s portfolio

 – A Photo Editor shows what might just be the best client brief ever

Last but not least…

The Crisman photo rocking our best Reservoir Dogs look – too bad Jared Castaldi isn’t in this shot, go figure he was the one shooting it.
